Local official Ed Crenshaw, Jr. invited to NBA Tryout Camp
St. Louis area basketball official Ed Crenshaw, Jr. has been invited to participate in the National Basketball Association Pre-Draft Camp in Virginia next month.
Crenshaw will head to Virginia from June 10-13 to participate in the NBA's three-day camp. He will attend classroom sessions on the first day, then officiate two games from the Pre-Draft camp on the second day. The final day will be a film session.
A 14-year veteran, Crenshaw has worked his way up to the NCAA Division I level two years ago. He got the call to attend the NBA Tryout Camp after working the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament in Danville, Ill.
"This is just a blessing," Crenshaw said. "My goal was to get to the Division I level of college. I never honestly thought about the NBA. This is a great opportunity."
A 1987 graduate of University City High School, Crenshaw has worked the past two years in Division I conferences such as the Atlantic 10 and Missouri Valley Conference, Division II conferences as the Great Lakes Valley Conference. He is the son of former St. Dominic and University City coach Ed Crenshaw. He played point guard for his father for U. City during his prep career.
Congratulations to Ed Crenshaw, Jr. on earning this wonderful opportunity. He has been an excellent official for more than decade and he has continued to work hard and work his way up the ladder in officiating. This is a well-deserved opportunity for a fine gentleman.
