Earl Austin Jr: Billikens earn postseason honors Billikens earn postseason honors ================================================================================ Earl Austin on 15/03/2010 14:44:00 Freshman forward Cody Ellis was selected to the A-10 All-Rookie Team. Ellis averaged 11.6 points and 4.9 rebounds after joining the Billikens at the beginning of the conference season. With Ellis on the team, the Billikens finished 11-5 and in fourth place in the A-10. Sophomore forward Willie Reed made the A-10 Honorable Mention list after averaging 11.8 points a game. The 6’9” Reed led the Billikens in rebounds, blocked shots and field goal percentage. Sophomore forward Brian Conklin earned Academic All-Conference honors. On the women’s side, SLU senior Amanda Kemyzys was selected to the All-Atlantic 10 Conference Second Team. The 6’4” center from Belleville East High averaged 12.9 points and 9.3 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field. She also set the single-season school record for rebounding this year. She earned Academic All-District recognition as well. Kemezys finished her SLU career ranked in the top 10 in several categories. She finished third with 815 rebounds, fourth with 81 blocked shots and sixth with 275 made free throws. Kemezys also finished her career with 1,227 points, which was 11th on the school’s career list. Junior forward Lauren Woods was voted the A-10’s Most Improved Player for the 2009-2910 season. The 6’0” Woods (Belleville East) averaged 13.9 points a game to lead the Billikens in scoring. Woods also had 63 assists and 30 steals. Woods also garned A-10 Player of the Week honors in February. Congrulations to these fine SLU student-athletes of their great accomplishments this season.
