HUGHES HAS ALSO PLAYED FOR PHILADELPHIA, GOLDEN STATE, WASHINGTON, CLEVELAND, CHICAGO AND NEW YORK. The former CBC High and Saint Louis University star played in 31 games this season with the Knicks, averaging 9.6 points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds a game. He has his best stretch of play during the season in a 20-game stretch between Oct. 31 and Dec. 7 when he averaged 12 points a game. Hughes’ minutes were reduced when guard Nate Robinson returned to action from the injured list. Ironically, Robinson was also traded on Thursday, to the Boston Celtics. In his 11-year career, Hughes has averaged 14.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals. He led the NBA in steals in 2005 and was named to the NBA’s All-Defensive team.
