S.W. Illinois Jets win AAU Division II 15U National Championship

The S.W. Illinois Jets won their second consecutive AAU national championship on Saturday. The Jets defeated the Louisiana Roundballers 53-51 to win the Division II national title in Little Rock, Ark.

 Forward Brad Woodson hit two free throws with five seconds left in regulation to give the Jets the victory. Guard DeShawn Munson led the Jets with 16 points, followed by Woodson's 15 points. Guard Malcolm Hill added 11 points.

 The Jets won the 14U Division II national title in 2009 in Orlando. The team members are Malcolm Hill, Jr. (Belleville East), Kaleahl Ferguson (Belleville East), DeShawn Munson (East St. Louis), Eric Furmanek (Althoff), Brad Woodson (Vianney), Johnny McCray (East St. Louis), Jason Kushnerik (Collinsville), Todd Porter (O'Fallon) and Chris Walker (O'Fallon).

 Congratulations to head coach Pat Smith and the Jets on bringing home another national championship to the St. Louis area.

 The St. Louis Eagle (Blue) advanced to the Final Four and finished fourth in the AAU Division I national tournament last week in Little Rock. The members of the Eagles 15U Blue are Kevin Baker (Maplewood), Jim Barton (DeSmet), Nolan Berry (DeSmet), Aaron Collins (Maplewood), Khalid Hagens (Maplewood), Jordan Martin (Hazelwood Central), Keenan Minor (Cahokia), Ra'Sean Shelton (Hazelwood East), Deven Sims (Jennings), Jordan Swopshire (Fort Zumwalt South), Anthony Virdure, Jr. (Lutheran North).

 Congratulations to head coach Erwin Claggett and the STL Eagles for their fourth-place finish at the national tournament.
