Ray Coleman tabbed as new boys coach at East St. Louis
Ray Coleman has been named the new boys varsity coach at East St. Louis Senior High earlier this week. Coleman, 49, was a former standout at East St. Louis during the 1970's.
He takes over for Dennis Brooks, who stepped down as head coach after the 2010 season. Coleman has served two different stints as the Flyers assistant coach. He left the coaching ranks in 2004 to work on the political campaign for future Illinois state senator and future President of the United States Barack Obama.
In 2009, Coleman wrote the book, "The Obama Phenomenon: Yes We Can - Be a Barack: A Spiritual Perspective" The book was published by Priortybooks Publications.
The Flyers finished the 2010 season with a 12-13 record. They will return four-year starter Keonte Minor as well as talented sophomore guard Carlos Munson and a host of good athletes who will come up from the junior varsity team.
