STL Eagles 17U boys advance to finals of AAU Super Showcase: Finals to be televised on ESPNU. All-Americans Bradley Beal and Austin Rivers to square off

The St. Louis Eagles 17U will be making its second appearance on national television this summer. The Eagles advanced to the championship game of the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando, Florida. The Eagles earned their berth in the championship game by defeating Team Takeover of Washington D.C. 80-76 in the semifinals.

 The Eagles will face Each I Teach I (Florida) in the championship game, which will be played on Tuesday at 6 p.m. (St. Louis time). The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

 The championship game will showcase the top two high school shooting guards in the country as the Eagles' Bradley Beal of Chaminade will be matched against Each 1 Teach 1's Austin Rivers, the son of Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. The two shooting stars combined to score 71 points in a meeting earlier this spring at the Boo Williams Invitational in Hampton, Va. Beal scored 37 points while Rivers scored 34 points as both guards put on a show in the Eagles' 85-79 victory in April. If you like to see two talented young men play string music with the basketball, you will be in for a special treat if these two are on their games.

 The victory over Team Takeover avenged an earlier loss to the D.C. crew in the finals of the recent Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. Team Takeover defeated the Eagles 60-52 in the final game of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League in a game which was also televised on ESPNU.

 All-American guard Bradley Beal of Chaminade simply went off in the semifinals, scoring a game-high 36 points. Point guard Shaquille Boga of McCluer added 16 points while Ben McLemore (Wellston) and Larry Toomey (Parkway West) finished with nine points each. Toomey, a 6'6" forward, was a perfect four-of-four from the field.

 The Eagles won all three of their games in pool play, then defeated the CP3 All-Stars in the first round and Long Island in the quarterfinals.
