STL Gameface moves into Elite Eight of AAU 17 Nationals: B.J. Young scores 48 points
McCluer North's B.J. Young scored a game-high 48 points to lead St. Louis Gameface to a 90-55 victory over the Long Island Lightning (N.Y.) in the Sweet 16 round of the Amateur Athletic Union 17U National Tournament in Orlando, Florida.
Young nearly outscored the opponents from New York in leading Gameface into the quarterfinals, where they will face the Connecticut Basketball Club and its No. 1 big man in the Class of 2012, Andre Drummond, in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 9:50 a.m. (St. Louis time). Gameface is currently 6-1 in the tournament.
The 6'3" Young has been the leading scorer in the national tournament, having already enjoyed scoring outbursts of 47, 42, and 38 points during the tournament. He is averaging well over 30 points a game.
After watching Young torch Long Island for 48, national recruiting analyst Evan Daniels of Scout.com wrote, "There are guys who think they can get to the rim when they want and then there's cats like Young who know they can."
