KIRKWOOD -- Day 1 at the magnificent Meramec Tournament went just about the way most experts thought it would, as four teams ranked among the best in the state, showed off why they’re so highly thought of Monday night at Meramec Community College, with a set of lopsided wins over unranked opponents to kick off the area’s best holiday basketball event.

St. Mary's pulled off the first upset of the holiday tournament season as they upended Ladue 55-51 in the first round of the MICDS Tournament. The lineup for the third annual Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout has been released. The seven game event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26 and is scheduled to be played at the Chaifetz Arena on the campus of Saint Louis University.
