Championship Friday Night (December 2)
Several early-season tournaments will be holding their championship games on Friday night. Championship trophies will be handed out at Pattonville, Mehlville, Vianney, Winfield and Whitfield. Here is the schedule for tonight's tournament finals.
Borgia tops McCluer North to win Turkey Tourney
Host St. Francis Borgia rode the hot shooting of senior guard Bryce Dolan to defeat McCluer North 48-46 in the championship game of the 59th annual Borgia Turkey Tournament. The 6'0" Dolan scored a game-high 28 points, including eight 3-pointers to spark the Knights....Opening day standouts: Malcolm Hill scores 30

The 59th annual St. Francis Borgia Turkey Tournament will be held on November 23-26. The tournament has been scaled down to six teams, but there is still plenty of quality, including Class 5 state champion McCluer North and Class 4 state runners-up Borgia....Whitfield Classic Round Robin Tournament Field is set
The Whitfield Classic Round Robin Tournament will be held from Nov. 28-30. The tournament will feature three of the top teams in the St. Louis metro area in DeSmet, Cardinal Ritter and host Whitfield. Sumner rounds out the four-team field....GAC-Suburban Basketball Shootout returns to St. Charles on Dec. 15-17
The Gateway Athletic Conference and Suburban West Conference will stage its annual three-day shootout from December 15-17 at the Family Arena in St. Charles. Former Washington High standout and University of Washington senior Scott Suggs is expected to miss 8-12 weeks of the upcoming 2011-12 season after breaking a bone in his foot this week. Suggs had surgery on his foot. The 6'6" Suggs averaged 7.5 points and shot 45 percent from 3-point range as a junior in helping the Huskies win the Pac 10 Tournament title and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament....Johnnie Williams named head coach at Wentzville Holt
Johnnie Williams has been tabbed as the new boys varsity coach at Wentzville Holt this week. Williams spent last season as the assistant varsity coach at Kirkwood High. Williams also spent last summer as the head coach of the St. Louis Eagles 15U Blue team which finished 12th at the Amateur Athletic Union 15U Nationals in Little Rock, Ark.
