SLU recruit Keith Carter named MVP of Proviso West Tournament
SLU recruit Keith Carter was named the Most Valuable Player of the Proviso West Holiday Tournament after leading his Proviso East team to the championship.
The 6'1" Carter had 15 points and three steals to lead Proviso East past New Trier 68-55 in the championship game. In the semifinals, Carter scored a game-high 23 points to lead East past Rockford Auburn 75-56. Carter connected on nine of 14 from the field in the victory.
In the four tournament games, Carter averaged 17.3 points, 2.5 assists and 3.9 steals while shooting 41 percent from 3-point range.
Proviso East is currently 11-0 and ranked No. 2 in the Chicago area behind national powerhouse Chicago Simeon.
Carter was one of the two high school seniors who signed with the Billikens in November. The other is 6'6" forward Jared Drew from Indianapolis, Ind.
