Felicia Chester makes her mark in Windy City
Former Incarnate Word Academy standout Felicia Chester is enjoying an excellent junior season as a starting forward at DePaul University. The 6’3” Chester has been a key player for the Blue Demons, who are 17-10 entering this week’s action. Chester is averaging 9.9 points a game, which is third on the team, and 6.9 rebounds, which is second.
Chester leads the Blue Demons in shooting percentage at 54 percent and blocked shots with 36. She is averaging 31 minutes a game.
Chester enjoyed one of her strongest performances on Feb. 10 when she had 14 points and 10 rebounds against No. 1 and defending NCAA national champion Connecticut.
As a sophomore, Chester started 30 games and averaged 5.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in helping the Blue Demons to a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Before leaving for Chicago, Chester was an All-State and a St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro player at Incarnate Word. She led the Red Knights to the Class 5 state championship in 2006, earning St. Louis American Player of the Year honors along the way.
