Baylor/STL Fusion Elite wins the 17U championship of the David Lee and Larry Hughes Slam Jam Tournament at Saint Louis University
Local boys basketball team Baylor/St. Louis Fusion Elite recently won the 17U championship of the David Lee and Larry Hughes Slam Jam Tournament at Saint Louis University. The Fusion Elite are a 16U team made up of high school sophomores, but they moved up a grade level to play in the 17U division and came away with the first-place trophy.
They defeated the Illinois Titans 64-55 in the championship game. In 2009, Baylor compiled a 59-6 record at the 15U level with six tournament titles. The team members are (in alphabetical order), Darian Bass (CBC), Nick Deloach (Lindbergh), Demetrius Floyd (McCluer), Kawan Griffin (Soldan), Raheim Holloway (Jennings), Darrell Johnson (Parkway North), Jack Kelly (SLUH), Paul McRoberts (Soldan), Anthony Moore (Jennings), Stacy Thornton (Crystal City), Travon Williams (University City). Team Fusion is led by head coach Arnaud Jones and assistant coach Stacy Thornton.
